Vocal Coaching

Private Studio

I offer private lessons to anyone who would like to improve their singing, from the self-proclaimed tone-deaf to professional singers! My strategies are grounded in sound classical technique, which can be applied to any style or genre.

As a Private Lesson tutor in Voice at the Barbados Community College, I give one-on-one instruction to professional and aspiring professional singers in both the Classical and Jazz streams. This role also involves screening potential entrants during auditions and examining students in their performance exams.

I also teach the ‘Music for Theatre’ course in the Theatre department. Singing forms significant part of the performance stream of the course, which culminates in a short musical theatre production. Shows I have produced thus far include adaptions of ‘Dreamgirls’ (Henry Krieger & Tom Eyen) and ‘Once on This Island’ (Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty).

Live the Music! Breathe the Music!Voice Project October 2012

I have had the pleasure of collaborating on various projects with Janelle Headley-Newton, Director of  ‘Live the Music! Breathe the Music!’. We recently concluded an 11-week workshop called ‘The Voice Project’ (TVP). Students of TVP showed off their new skills at a holiday concert, which also featured other ‘Live-Breathe’ students.

I have also been a singing tutor in the Music Theatre ‘Bootcamp’, Operation Triple Threat, for the past 2 summers. The 2012 programme culminated with a production of Fame! Jr., the first production of a licensed Broadway musical in Barbados.
